The votes are in! Your new officers are: Freshmen representative – Andrea Vasquez, Sophomore representative – Jen Dorcin, Junior representative – Luke Anderson and Debi Dimitrova, Senior representative – Bri Brown and Paulette Hartman, Club Liason – Alyssa Ramirez, Secretary – Cristian Salgado, Treasurer – Meira Golberg, Vice President – Christian Phillips, President – Marian Rodberg.  All new officers should report to Ms. Mohi at lunch today.  There will be a general Student Government meeting Monday, October 16th during the first half of lunch.

 

The G-Star acting department is proud to present the 2017 Fall Mainstage Play, SHE KILLS MONSTERS! The show runs from October 17th – October 26th.  Buy tickets in the H building Theater Office before school, after school, and during the first half of lunch.  Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for students, faculty, and staff.  This dungeons and dragons fantasy is not to be missed! Attention all Pre-IB and IB students! If you want to know more about your upcoming years in the IB program, come visit the IB Mentorship Club, held every other Friday during lunch.  This meeting will discuss the expectations and techniques that will be vital for you to know your future in the IB program.  Get a head start from those who have already experienced it!  Next meeting will be held on Friday, October 20th in J-102 during the first half of lunch.

 

Attention Seniors! Senior quote forms are here!  Come by in the morning before the first bell or after school.  They will be on the front desk now until November 17th.  Any and all inappropriate slang or phrases will not be acceptable and the form will be sent back to you.  Turn the form in with a baby picture in an envelope to either the Senior Yearbook team or Mr. Weiss in J-219.

 

Political Science Club meets after school every Tuesday in A-109! Come if you want to discuss current events and other social issues.

 

Mark your calendars: here are your Spirit Week days! Monday, Oct 23rd is Mathletes vs. Athletes: Dress up as a jock or a nerd.  Represent your favorite sports team or school subject.  Tuesday, Oct 24th is Tune-in Tuesday: Tune in to your favorite radio station, TV channel, or movie network and dress as your favorite character or celebrity.  Wednesday, Oct 25th is Wicked Wednesday: How scary can you be? Dress as a monster or a villain, but be aware of dress code rules; no masks or weapons are allowed.  Thursday, Oct 26th is Throwback Thursday: Travel back to your favorite era.  We recommend Freshman do the 50’s, Sophomores the 60’s, Juniors the 70’s, and Seniors the 80’s.  But feel free to time-warp to another era.  Friday, Oct 27th is Class Colors Day: By popular demand, we have returned to our original colors this year.  Seniors wear blue, Juniors wear red, Sophomores wear yellow, and Freshmen wear green.  Throughout Spirit Week, be sure to stop by the photo booth every day during lunch, in the courtyard.  The yearbook staff will be selling instant photos of you and your friends for $3/print.  Show your spirit and have fun!

 

Seniors, the application for the Bright Futures Scholarship and the FAFSA opened October 1st.  See Mrs. Sammarco for any questions.

 

Juniors and Seniors, this week for college presentations: the 19th is Marymount Manhattan College, and the 20th is Rollins College.  Please see Ms. Sammarco to sign up.  Students will not be able to sign up the same day for a presentation.

Student Government officers and potential members: the first SGA meeting will be Thursday in J102 during the first half of lunch. We are discussing upcoming events and how to involve the school!

Attention all student filmmakers interested in participating in this year’s student film. Interviews for the positions of director and producer will be held this coming Monday, October 23rd in Mr. Decarmine’s room, K105. Students who are interested in directing, should prepare a resume and film reel that reflects your experiences. Students seeking the position of producer are to prepare a resume reflecting your production experiences. You may sign up on the call board in the K building. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Decarmine in K-105 or Ms. Tieche in K-106.
