Founder's
Letter
It is with much pride in our whole
organization that I write this letter to you. When we started out
in 2003 with just 156 students and seven teachers, we hoped (and
prayed) we would make it through the school year and still be
standing at its end. The best laid plans of mice and men…
Yet, here we are in our
fourth year adding twelfth grade. We have become a full high school
with 700 students – and not just any high school. We set out on a
unique path with goals that seemed like the smoke of dreams. Now
that smoke has cleared, and we have accomplished so much more than
we had dreamed.
Today 58 employees
provide a myriad of services for those 700 students including this
year a new Guidance Counselor, Dean of Students, and Media
Specialist in our recently completed Media/Library Center. The
School District has dedicated bus routes to our school that have
enhanced our transportation program. A State of Florida certified
college, the Krane Academy, has taken up residence on our campus.
Our finances are stronger than ever, and the school is now
purchasing more land and buildings to expand our presence in the
community. We have received congratulatory letters of support from
the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Art Johnson, and the Chairman of
the School Board, Mr. Thomas Lynch, verifying both our financial
acumen and the success of our Academic and Arts programs. Newspaper
and magazine articles line our reception area, and eight-foot high
movie posters of professional and student made films adorn the
exterior of our school buildings and movie studio walls – all
proclaiming the success of our vision to give our students the
finest in academic and arts training in a real world setting.
This year we have added a weekly
one-hour radio show to our curriculum that is broadcast into one
million homes from Ft. Lauderdale to Stuart to the Glades on WPBR
1340 AM every Friday at 9:00 AM. Of course, the radio show joins
the G-Star TV Show on PBS station WXEL Channel 42 broadcast into two
million homes from Miami to Vero Beach. Live theater and film
production will come together this school year in a huge Halloween
production entitled X-Scream Halloween, a student produced
live show with 17,000 sq. ft. of newly constructed and dressed
sets. The eleven-night event is expected to attract 15,000
attendees in its first year and build up to 35,000 attendees in its
third year. The sets will then be used to produce the as yet
untitled student horror movie that already has guaranteed
distribution worldwide as a feature length film.
Finally, this year marks G-Star
School of the Arts’ accreditation, our last step into success as a
public high school. If your child attends G-Star, you have a right
to be proud of the unique education he or she is receiving in
preparation for college and life beyond school. If your child is
considering attending G-Star, we welcome your application and look
forward to meeting you.
G-Star – come in and watch the
stars come out.
Sincerely,
Greg Hauptner
