X-Scream Halloween Summer
Program
Open to all current and incoming G-Star
students

At first glance X-Scream Halloween is simply G-Star
School of the Arts annual fund-raising
event, but on closer inspection, it has become much, much more! Now,
entering our 8th
year of production, the members of the “X-Scream Team” participate
year-round in events
that include Government Disaster Drills, SWAT Team Exercises,
Musical Theater and just
about anything else. As an extracurricular program X-Scream has
become the most
well-rounded and attention getting activity in any South Florida
High School. Instilling
film and entertainment related skills, an amazing work ethic and a
comraderie based in
friendship and common purpose, X-Scream now boasts over 200
year-round members
and countless part-time participants.
During the summer break X-Scream switches gears to a “camp”
environment while working on the upcoming season’s event. This
includes set building and design, effects makeup seminars,
costuming, safety, “haunted” acting classes and many other
activities. We also view movies (and critique the makeup) and
include numerous “fun” days that offer a break from the work. This
camp is offered in 2 four week sessions and runs from 9:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday with early drop off (8 a.m.) and late pickup (5:00 p.m.)
available at no additional charge. Every Thursday is “pizza day” -
with pizza and drinks provided (included with camp fee). This
program is open to all current and incoming G-Star students and has
proven to be an incredible way for new students to adjust to the new
environment long before the 1st day of school. As a “plus” every
hour spent working on X-Scream is community service!
The summer sessions do involve a modest tuition to
operate but this is
necessary to ensure proper supervision and a safe environment for
your student -
not to mention pizza! While our schedule is not yet finished, we
will be including a few
“extra” activities during each session - in the past campers
participated as “hostages” in
a SWAT Team drill at the Port of Palm Beach, working with 7 area
SWAT units, a
number of film and music productions in the soundstage and a trip to a water park !

G-Star prior to camp registration.
Session 1: June 17th - July 11th
Session 2: July 15th - August 8th
Camp days: Monday thru Thursday
Cost: $160.00 per 4 week session.
Special pricing and/or scholarships may be available
for students eligible for free/reduced lunch program.
